Anchorum is a world of stark, harsh beauty. When the ever-present rain breaks and the thick Myst recedes the hollow sky holds its pale yellow sun and bakes the world in a high contrast that sears the eyes and burns what soft life cannot find shelter, casting the landscape into unflinching light and deep shadows.*

A young world where the crags of exposed stone mountainsides give way to plateaus dotted by fungal forests that can sprout and burn within a week as often as they stand for a generation.

The mountains though, are constants, as are the ravines that scar the landscape carrying pure water from the peaks to the Depths. As the deeply cut rivers reach the Midlands the cobalt blue Myst flows upstream as if clawing at the land, desperate to flee the roiling oceans where only horrors lurk.

Life is hard here, but it persists. The inhabitants of Anchorum farm and fysh and reap the land, maintaining livestock that seem to ill-fit their habitat. The Midlands are dotted with townships that form around farms, mines and logging camps that feed the every hungry industry of those fortunate to be citizens of the Highlands. Midlanders are hearty and tough by necessity, and they toil under the sheltering hand and unsleeping eye of Meka owned and operated by the great Censorious Highlands Trading Company.

The wilds are home to fysh, fowl, reptile and amphibian and aquatic life of all kinds abound. Giant crabs fall prey to gargantuan crayfish in myst shrouded streams while above barracuda swarm a solitary colossal squid.

*There is no civilisation to be found in the Mystlands, only beasts and monsters live there.
